Welcome Address

As Principal of Eureka Secondary School it is with great pleasure that I invite you to journey with me through the pages of this website to catch a glimpse of the range of activities which constitute the academic life in our thriving living institution. Eureka Secondary School is a Catholic all girls school under the trusteeship of CEIST, formerly the Sisters of Mercy. The school is managed on their behalf by a Board of Management. A strong Mercy ethos has always been a component part of school life, where faith is nurtured and religious and moral education is seen as fundamental to the development of each girl. In Eureka we aim to provide the highest quality education possible to meet the needs of all students, within the limits of available resources, and within an environment and ethos that promotes Christian values, mutual respect and responsible citizenship. Since 1924, Eureka has been at the forefront of educational innovation and is currently ranked in the top twenty highest performing schools in Leinster. However, while we foster a climate of academic ambition the aim of management and staff of the school is to create an atmosphere of trust and good communication where, students, staff and parents may work together as a community. At the heart of our policies is a concern for the welfare, happiness and success of each student who is entrusted in our care – by challenging those that are gifted to reach their full potential and encouraging those who need extra support. By providing a broad range of curricular and extra-curricular activities we strive to nurture all intelligences, talents and capacities and thus ensure that the academic, personal, social, physical and vocational development of each student is promoted within a holistic environment. Our curriculum reflects the diverse needs of our students while our extra-curricular, highlight an enthusiastic student cohort and a dedicated staff. It is our vision that each student leaving Eureka will during her adult life, derive strength and fulfilment from her faith, continue to work to achieve her potential, approach life with confidence and be motivated to play an active, caring and responsible role in society. As Principal, I look forward to sharing the shaping of this most exciting and challenging phase of your daughter’s educational development.
