On Wednesday the 5th of March, two teams from Eureka took part in the Leinster Regional Final at Newcastle Airfield in Co Wicklow for the Cansat competition. The students had to build a satellite that fits inside a can using an arduino microcontroller and program the arduino to transmit temperature and air pressure to a computer. The students had to learn how to program, solder the electrical components together and build a parachute. The two teams did very well despite some technical difficulties on the day and even got to try the flight simulator at the airfield. Afterwards, all the teams returned to DIT, analysed their data and presented their work. Congratulations and well done to all involved. Teacher: Mr Hurley.

Some of the students work can be seen on their blogs here: http://eurekacansat.edublogs.org
