Rang Diarmuid from TY had an interesting trip to the GPO on Thursday, May 20th where they visited the State 1916 Easter Rising Exhibitionalong with their teacher Mr McKee. The girls were taken on a guided tour of the Exhibition where they learned all about the background to the Rising and the events that unfolded 100 years ago. The highlight of the tour was the Easter Rising video which brought the events vividly to life for the students. Teacher: Mr McKee.

YSI - It's the Yes Not the Dress
Rang Oisín launched their @YSINow project 'It's the Yes NOT the Dress' campaign with Helen Mc Entee in conjunction with The Rape Crisis Centre. They have been selected to perform their SpeakOut at the lunch for the sponsors on that day. Teacher: Ms Glynn.
Rang Cian CSPE during the Balloon Drive Fundraiser for a local boy, Toms walking wish. €230 was raised by guessing the amount of balloons in Mr. Lynch car and presented to the organiser. Teacher: Ms Mimnagh
The Crocus Club
Rang Deirdre in commemoration of the 1.5 million Jewish children and thousands of other children who perished during the Holocaust, erected a plaque, which was made by Declan Nugent father of Amy Nugent. They inscribed it with yellow crocuses painted on it by Shauna Mai Young with the support and guidance of her Art Teacher Ms. Daly. Students observed a moment of silence and said a prayer for the children who died, at the spot in the garden of the school were they had planted yellow crocuses in September 2015. The crocuses bloomed last Spring, this Spring and will bloom every Spring as they spread. Teacher: Ms McKenna.

B4uDecide HSE Competition with UTV Media
Congratulations to the TY students on winning the B4uDecide HSE Competition with UTV Media. The Health Service Executive’s B4uDecide.ie held a competition which asked schools to create an empowering 60-second commercial to help inform young people about where to go to get trustworthy information about relationships and sexual health. B4uDecide.ie is a sexual health campaign that encourages teenagers to make healthy, responsible decisions about relationships and sexual health.
Lauren Cullen and her team entered an advertisement that shows a girl confronted by her future self with some advice in a quirky and comedic manner. The judges were really impressed the Eureka girls' work and couldn’t be more delighted with their entry. It delivered all the key messages that were asked, from the video brief to the handling of the subject matter in a modern and mature way. The prize includes a professional production of the commercial and a tour of the studios early in the next school year. Teacher: Ms Weir.
