What a fantastic day we had at our annual Transition Year GAA Future Leaders National School Blitz! Over 185 students from 15 local primary schools across Meath, Westmeath, and Cavan participated, making it our largest and most competitive event yet.
The standard of football was outstanding, and the atmosphere was electric (helped by the fact that the rain mostly stayed away ). After some brilliant group matches, quarter-finals and semi-finals, the action came down to two thrilling finals:
Shield Final – Mullagh v Carnaross, with Mullagh just edging victory in a nail-biting contest.
Cup Final – St Colmcille’s Kells v Knocktemple, where St Colmcille’s Kells just came out on top after a superb display of skill and teamwork.
Huge congratulations to all the players, teachers, and club mentors involved – the talent and dedication on display show the fantastic work being done at the underage level in our local clubs and schools.
A big thank you to O’Brien’s SuperValu Kells for their generous sponsorship and to CLG Cúchulainn for the use of their equipment – your support makes days like this possible.
Most importantly, a massive shout-out to our GAA Future Leaders TY students – your effort, organisation and teamwork shone through. You should be incredibly proud of the brilliant event you ran today!
Don’t forget – our Eureka Open Day takes place on Wednesday, 24th September from 5–8 pm. We’re looking forward to welcoming you all!

Primary School Blitz 2024
What an incredible week at the 1st Year GAA Blitz! A massive well done to all the teams for their energy, sportsmanship, and determination, but a special shoutout goes to 1 Bríona for their fantastic performance and winning the event! You showed amazing teamwork and spirit on the pitch – the future of GAA is looking bright. The day was made even more exciting with some unique moments – including twins playing against each other on opposing teams! The competition was fierce, but the spirit of the game and fun prevailed! Thank you to everyone who participated, supported, and made this blitz such a success.
Primary Schools Blitz
What a day! We had over 165 students participate in our Third Transition Year GAA Future Leaders National School Blitz from 15 local Primary schools from Meath, Westmeath and Cavan! This year again was extremely competitive and great football played throughout the day in perfect conditions. After our group stages, quarter-finals and semi-finals, Our Shield final was contested by Nobber and Bohermeen with the Nobber girls edging out a thrilling context. The Cup Final was contested by St Tolas and last year's Shield Winners Moynalty/ Ughtyneill who overcame Carnaross in a titanic Semi-Final with two separate periods of extra time needed to separate them. With excellent skills on display, it was Moynalty/ Ughtyneill who got to lift the cup for their first time.
Congratulations to all the players, teachers/managers and those involved at club level in the area. It is evident that a lot of work is taking place.
This day wouldn’t have been possible without the continued support of O’Briens Supervalu Kells for their generous sponsorship and CLG Cuchulainn for the use of their equipment.
A special word of thanks must be given to our GAA Future Leaders TY classes for all their hard work. It was brilliant to see you all coming together to host such an amazing event.
A reminder that Eureka Open Day takes place on Saturday, 12th October from 10am to 1pm! We can’t wait to see you all!
